March 10, 2009: Instructional Course leaders and Panel Discussion participants announced

The leaders of the 16 Instructional Courses and the participants of the 10 Panel Discussions / Grand Debates are today announced. These details are added to the program pages alongside the 7 Keynote Speakers.  Further information on the sponsored symposia and contributed papers will be forthcoming shortly.

March 6, 2009: CPD Accreditation Announced

The Second World Congress of IAOO  is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, approved by the University of Toronto (28 Section 1 credits).

The Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, designates this educational activity for a maximum of 28 Category 1 credits toward The American Medical Association Physician's Recognition Award.

As a result of a reciprocal agreement between the EACCME and the AMA, European registrants may claim AMA PRA Category 1 as equivalent.

December 2008: Over 600 abstracts submitted for Congress

The call for papers for the Congress has attracted over 600 abstracts from international researchers and practitioners. These will now be comprehensively reviewed to select 200 oral contributions and large poster sessions.

November 2008: Officers visit Athens

The Officers of IAOO recently met in Athens and discussed the Academy's educational and scientific activities in view of the forthcoming 2nd World Congress to be held in Toronto in July 2009.

June 2008: Committee visits venue for IAOO 2009

The IAOO 2009 Committee met in Toronto in June 2008 for a tour of the Meeting facilities at the Sheraton Centre Toronto – the venue for IAOO 2009. The hotel offers high quality, modern conference facilities with a large capacity that will be able to accommodate the requirements of the organizers and ensure that the Congress provides delegates with a memorable and enjoyable experience.

June 2008: 2007 Impact Factors Published - 'Oral Oncology' increases to 2.569

The Impact Factor of 'Oral Oncology' - the official journal of the IAOO - has risen to 2.569 in 2007, ranking it 65th out of 132 journals in the 'Oncology' category and 6th out of 51 journals in the 'Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Medicine' category.  Sarah Jenkins, Publishing Editor for 'Oral Oncology', commended the hard work and dedication of the journal's Editor-in-Chief, Crispian Scully CBE, for his dedication to developing 'Oral Oncology'.  More information on the journal, including a link to its online submission system, can be found at www.elsevier.com/locate/oraloncology (link opens in a new window).
